New rescue base in Steinheim: groundbreaking for modern guard!
The groundbreaking ceremony for the new rescue station in Steinheim has been done and the anticipation is great! Together with numerous guests, District Administrator Michael Stickeln, Mayor Carsten Torke and Martin Lange, the department head for public security of the Höxter district, started the official building. Over a period of two years, a modern new building project will be created on Rolfzener Straße, which meets the requirements for contemporary emergency care. Stogules emphasized that this building is an important step to improve emergency care in the district, especially with regard to the increasing number of operations that almost 28,000 achieved in 2023, especially from the Steinheim guard, which mastered around 4,000 missions. Due to its age and the associated defects, the old guard no longer corresponded to the requirements.

At the same time as the construction work, the equipment of the rescue workers is also upgraded. According to a report by the city of Höxter, the employees receive new operational clothing in bright yellow, which increases their safety, especially at dusk or night. This adaptation follows a nationwide trend towards aligning the emergency services uniforms. The new clothing meets the highest safety requirements and offers numerous functional features, including retroreflecting stripes, special pockets and knee cushions. Department head Inge Ortjohann said that the participation of the employees was particularly important, which increases the acceptance and motivation in the team.
The investments in the new rescue station in Steinheim, which will cost around 6.5 million euros, are part of a comprehensive strategy to optimize the emergency services in the Höxter district. These developments, which will further improve emergency care, are of crucial importance for the population. The new rescue station will not only have the required space, but also the latest energetic standards. It is planned that the guard has its own PV system and a geothermal heat pump. The combination of new infrastructure and improved operational clothing will enormously increase the willingness and effectiveness of the emergency services in the region, which is of great advantage for all citizens in an emergency.
