Musical inspires 1,600 young spectators: a sign of peace!

Kärnten, Österreich - On June 28, 2025, an impressive musical performance in front of over 1,600 spectators took place. This event, organized by the European School St. Michael, attracted children and young people from various educational institutions of the district. The topic of performance was the fragility of peace, humanity, courage and cohesion. Director Danilo Katz took over the overall management and thus created a sign of peace and a signal against forgetting. The audience was deeply moved and thrilled by the stories about exclusion, flight, hope and return.

The actors, young artists of the European School, were under the creative direction of a committed team. Director Aleksander Tolmaier, author Peter Svetetina and scenographer Simona Krajger worked intensively together to tell this important story. The music of the musical was composed by Stefan Thaler and performed live by his accompanying band, consisting of Žan Hauptman (piano), Žan Bračun (guitar), Pavel Čebašek (drums) and Stefan Thaler (bass). The months of project preparation included samples, construction and design, which contributed to the success of the performance.

commitment to peace and prevention of violence

The event is part of a greater commitment, which is strongly supported by the project without violence, which was launched in cooperation with the Fokolar movement. The aim of this project is to transport values such as peace, social justice, love and solidarity through music and theater. Interactive workshops are carried out in schools in which pupils are actively involved in the performance of the musical, both on the stage and behind the scenes. These workshops usually last four weeks and enable young people to deal intensively with the topics of violence and strength by getting to know their own strengths and skills. The initiative has already been realized in the six locations Siegburg, Hanover, Brno, Zbkowice Zlskie, Sibiu and Miskolc.

Another important part of peace formation is the theater project of Eukitea, which in particular appeals to young people and adults. The focus is on the topics of courage and joy as the prerequisites for peace. With application -related methods such as storytelling, interactive elements and theater, the longing for peace for children and adolescents is discussed. Creative approaches to design peace are conveyed in the everyday environment.

variety of projects

The current theater projects is "Viola and the Peace Salphabet", which is designed for children from 6 to 10 years, and "Five Little Pieces for Peace" for young people aged 10 to 13 years. In addition, Eukitea offers peace cards that are humorous through the wise of peace elephants Govinda into the forces for peace. This variety of projects shows how important it is to create creative and understandable approaches to the topics of peace and violence prevention.

In addition, several guests were present at the performance, including Stefan Sandrieser, Mayor Hermann Srienz, Pastor Slavko Thaler and school quality manager Sabine Sandrieser from the Carinthia Education Directorate, which underlines the social relevance of the topic. The impressive response of the audience proves how necessary and valuable these initiatives are.

The synergy of music, theater and the active participation of young people plays a crucial role in the imparting of values that strengthen peace, humanity and cohesion.
