Climate protection in Vienna: Greens demand credibility of new elections!
Excitement in Vienna: On February 18, the Greens Vienna made it clear in a press conference with Judith Pühringer and Peter Kraus that the credibility in climate protection is at stake. They criticize the current policy of Rot-Pink as a potential "greenwashing". The focus is particularly on the controversial climate law and the attitude on the construction of the lobaut tunnel, which, according to the Greens, undermine the city's sustainability efforts. The conference takes place at 10:00 a.m. in the green club in the town hall, and the public is cordially invited to find out and take part in the discussion, as Apa.at reported.
At the same time, Mayor Michael Ludwig from the SPÖ and Vice Mayor Christoph Retonige announced new elections for April 27. This causes resentment among the Greens, who consider the "abrupt end of red-pink" to be irresponsible. In a press release, Pühringer expresses that this decision creates even more uncertainty among the Viennese, especially in view of the existing political turbulence at the federal level. Pühringer also calls various unresolved construction sites in the city government, including the vacancy tax and the climate law that has not yet been adopted, which have contributed to uncertainty in the coalition.
