A new chapter is opened in the heart of Carinthia: the construction of a state -of -the -art congress center in Klagenfurt, which will be of enormous importance for the entire region. Harald Kogler, President of the Carinthian Mass, explains that financing was the greatest challenge. "'Planning was a subordinate fact. The problem was rather the financing," said Kogler. With a total budget of 20 million euros, the project is funded equally by the city of Klagenfurt and the state of Carinthia with 5 million euros each, while the Klagenfurt trade fair itself has 10 million euros. This decision has just been financed in a city council meeting, as my Klagenfurt reports.The new event center, which is to be built on St. Ruprechter Strasse, promises high functionality and a multifunctional space for up to 600 visitors. Kogler emphasizes that the previous jury decision, which was carried out anonymously, brought a positive surprise: "It was not an architectural office." It is particularly noteworthy that the arena in Hall 5 is converted for up to 1,400 guests, which significantly expands the event options. The first construction work could begin in 2026, with a completion for 2027 if everything goes on schedule.
The SPÖ and ÖVP support the project as an important investment in the future of Klagenfurt. Patrick Jonke, club chairman Team Carinthia, emphasizes the strengthening of the economic position of the region by the new center: "Klagenfurt, as the central heart of the Alpe-Adria region, will significantly strengthen its economic policy position with the new event center for all of Carinthia." The Center also describes the FPÖ as indispensable for the business location. In the event of a tomorrow's vote, unanimous approval is expected, which should accelerate the financial relief and implementation of the project.
