Gotha celebrates the end of the new cycle path: a milestone for cyclists!

Gotha, Deutschland - In Gotha, an important step to improve the network of cycle paths was taken: On December 13, 2024, the last construction phase of the "Thuringian City Chain" (D-Route 4: Mittelland route) was officially opened. With an investment of 1.1 million euros, the new bike path, which comprises a length of 1.25 kilometers, is now part of Germany's national cycle path network. Mayor Knut Kreuch made the traffic approval together with partners and residents after the planning began in 2021 and the construction started in July 2024, as Gotha -aktuell reported.

But the city is not quiet: a total of 22 other major infrastructural measures are planned in Gotha for 2024. In addition to ceiling renovations, these also include new cables and complex construction projects that should all contribute to creating a future -proof infrastructure for the next generations. Despite the efforts to keep the impairments to the citizens as low as possible, considerable traffic restrictions can be expected, especially in Enckestraße and Ohrdrufer Straße, where main roads have to be fully blocked. In a narrow schedule, the construction work is to be coordinated, as the city of Gotha explains in another article:
