Bergisch-Märkische Veloroute: New bike paths connect Wuppertal and Hagen!
Hagen, Deutschland - A pioneering Initiative to improve cycling connections between Wuppertal and Hagen takes shape. Plans for the so-called Bergisch-Märkische Veloroute were specified after various route variants were checked for suitability. The aim of this new bike route is to better connect the areas of Gevelsberg, Ennepetal and Schwelm to the existing cycling network. After intensive workshops and citizen participations, which were organized via the Wedetetiv , a preferred variant was developed, which includes a length of about 24 kilometers and a high quality Should guarantee cycle paths.
Details on the Veloroure and Next Steps
The planned route is run on both newly designed bicycle streets and on securely designed multi -purpose pathways. An estimated 1,000 to 2,000 cyclists per day are expected to use the route. In order to integrate the bike route into the nationwide bike ranking network, extensive adjustments in the street rooms are required. These include, among other things, the renovation and widening of existing cycle paths and the construction of new bicycle bridges, which are intended to cross the A1 motorway, such as Hagen.de reported. To implement these measures, a political voting procedure via a follow-up cooperation agreement is now necessary that enables the start of the planning phase.
The feasibility of the Bergisch-Märkische Veloroute was supported by the IGS planning office and is a basic requirement for the application for funding. An information portal about the progress of the project has also been set up, which has further details on the feasibility study.
