Warning of online fraud: the latest methods of criminals!

An astonishing fraud shot the bank landscape: a unknown woman has lured a young man into the trap! As ORF Carinthia , the unknown interest showed and sent a link to the young man. He clicked on it with trust and entered his sensitive bank details including his online banking registration data. The result? Suddenly his account was poorer by several hundred euros! The police urgently warn against revealing personal account details on the Internet to escape such deceptive stitches.

But that's not the only incident: a 52-year-old entrepreneur from Villach fell victim to a similar stitch just a few days earlier. Unknowns contacted him at the end of February and requested the update of supposedly expired access data on the Internet. The fatal result: over 100,000 euros flowed from his account into the pockets of the perpetrators. Such fraud measures contribute to concern, especially since according to finantio only the international bank account number (IBAN) and the bank identification code (BIC), according to which the name of the recipient is not matted. This means that a transfer can be done without any problems, even if the name and Iban do not match!

The importance of vigilance

The responsibility therefore lies with the client whether his account information is correct. In the case of amount transfers from 1,000 euros, banks must check risks through automated fraud marking software, but do not automatically adhere to fraud if a customer should fall for. Transfer victims are well advised to act quickly and inform your bank immediately in order to increase your chances of withdrawing the funds. But be careful: with SEPA-echo-time transfers there is no retention of the money because they are handled immediately!
