Elections in Kosovo: Kurtis Vetevendosje missed absolute majority!

Kosovo, Kosovo - In the parliamentary elections in Kosovo, the left-wing nationalist Veteevendosje party (VV) under the leadership of Prime Minister Albin Kurti missed the absolute majority. According to the first forecasts published after the polling stations were closed, the VV achieved 42.3 percent of the vote. The right -wing Democratic Party (PDK) took second place with 21.3 percent, followed by the moderate conservative democratic league of Kosovo (LDK), which came to 20 percent of the votes, such as the Berliner daily newspaper reported.

The results remain behind the survey results that forecast between 40 and 50 percent for Kurtis. In the 2021 elections, VV had reached 50.28 percent and replaced the PDK, which dominated the political landscape since Kosovo's independence in 2008. Kurti pursues a strict policy towards the Serbian minority in Kosovo and has set itself the goal of eliminating the parallel structures supported by Serbia. This includes measures such as the factual ban on the Serbian dinar and the closure of banks and post offices, as reported by the Kosmo

Despite international criticism, especially from the USA and the EU, Kurti is unimpressed. Many in the Albanian -born population continue to support its hard line opposite Serbia. On the day of the election, he encouraged the voters to use their democratic law and to hear themselves. These exciting developments could significantly influence future political dynamics in Kosovo.
