Pensioners in need: High costs expected by increasing the KV!

Vienna, Österreich - The discussion about increasing health insurance contributions for guest houses in Austria has started. According to information from vienna.at are the coalition negotiations decisive for possible change. In particular, the planned increase in the contribution from 5.1 to 6.0 percent could bring significant savings for the state of around 270 million euros, but the pensioners are hard. With an average gross pension of 2,428.18 euros (men) and 1,667.58 euros (women) in 2025, the monthly losses for pensioners could be significant. Representations of the pensioners require a socially graded regulation in order to relieve the recipients of lower pension adjustments.

clarity about the future cost burden

Furthermore, finance that the parties have apparently received a consensus in their conversations for the budget renovation. A central point of the new budget plan, which was submitted in Brussels, provides for the increase in health insurance contributions, despite the previous concerns on the part of the SPÖ. This measure means less net income for the pensioners, while the party representatives emphasize that banks and energy companies should also contribute to the renovation. Analyzes show that pensioners have to expect a net minus of EUR 10.74 per month with a gross pension of 2,000 euros.

The decision on these measures is related to the overall budget plan of 6.4 billion euros, which is sought by the coalition. If the desired coalition between the ÖVP and SPÖ is concluded, the final decision to increase health insurance contributions is expected promptly. The resulting financial burdens could significantly impair the quality of life of many pensioners.
