ATM mafia: explosions shock Vienna - the police strike back!
A troubling wave of ATM protrudes both Austria and Germany. The so-called "ATM MAFIA", consisting of a group of criminals with predominantly Moroccan roots, ensures fear and horror. In Austria since the beginning of the year, 14 ATMs have been exploded with self -made explosive devices, with the perpetrators struck in most cases during the early hours of the morning. This is evident from reports from Kosmo . The Vienna, Lower Austria and Upper Austria regions are particularly affected. The police fear a further increase in incidents that could exceed the record numbers of the past.
A calculated procedure is also shown in Berlin, where two ATMs were blown up the same night. According to t-online one of the explosions was so strong that they smashed window panes of an adjacent shopping center. In Berlin-Lichtenberg, the explosives detonated at a distance of about two hours, but the damage incurred remained unclear and the question of the prey was initially unclear. The police are now checking whether the perpetrators are identical. The explosive raids not only devastate the ATMs, but also cause considerable damage to property and put the security precautions of the banks to the test.
consequences and measures
To improve the security situation, the Austrian police have launched a special unit called "Soko Authomat". This is led by Dieter CSEFAN, an already experienced leader in the fight against crime. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner also plans a banking summit to increase the security measures of the financial institutions. In particular, the use of security mechanisms such as color cartridges for attacks is up for discussion. So far, some banks have already taken proactive measures by taking certain ATMs out of operation and restricting the opening hours in order to advance possible raids.
