Danger! Fraudulent emails threaten ING customers-this is how they protect themselves!
Currently, customers of the ING-Bank have to be careful because they are confronted with fake emails. These phishing attempts have the subject "Update your account | Last reminder" and ask the recipients to activate a new "TAN app security system". The consumer advice center warned of this fraudulent stitch, which aims to obtain personal data and emphasize accounts.
In the emails, users threaten that they no longer have access to their account for banking transactions if the update is not carried out by January 5. To update your data, the recipients are asked to click on a button with the inscription "Click here". Experts refer to several signs that indicate phishing emails, including impersonal salutation, dubious sender address, suspicious links within the email and striking spelling errors.

The consumer advice center recommends ignoring such emails and moving them into the spam folder. In addition, users should search for similar requests in the official ING app or on the homepage. The current incident is not the first of its kind: In February 2024, ING customers were already affected by a similar fraud stitch, and in December 2024 the consumer center warned of a wave of fraud that targeted 12 million customers.
