Traffic transition in the district of Plön: New stops bring fresh wind!
In the district of Plön, the turnover of traffic takes on concrete forms, while the number of registered vehicles continues to increase. Currently over 145,000 vehicles and thus more cars are registered here as residents. The public sector's plan for expanding public transport (public transport) and thus getting away from motorized private transport. In order to achieve this goal, rail traffic between Kiel and Preetz is significantly improved by 2026, such as Kn-online.de reported.
The new stops: a decisive progress
Deutsche Bahn plans to build three new stops in the Ostseepark and Preetz, which are supposed to make public transport more accessible to many residents. These stops will be built between 2025 and 2026, whereby the “Gutenbergstraße” stop in the Ostseepark is being built during a blocking of three months. In addition, the “Preetz Hospital” and “Preetz Nord” stop will be created in Preetz, which from the perspective of local politics and residents is a significant improvement in accessibility. Mayor Tim Brockmann mentions that about a third of the city area can get to rail traffic within a ten -minute walk, which in particular will optimally connect large residential areas and important facilities such as the hospital.
The aim of these initiatives is to increase the demand in rail transport by 2027 by 20 percent compared to 2019. In the best scenario, the increase could even be up to 50 percent, which would significantly promote switching to public transport. The planners expect the new stop to contribute to mobility, since 20 percent of those surveyed indicate in a survey to change their choice of transport in the event of an additional stop. The additional stopping point will not only strengthen the local infrastructure, but also boost the use of rail traffic in the district of Plön, as well as Weites.land explained.
