Walking drama in Innsbruck: Tobogganing world champion criticizes grievances!

Krefeld, Deutschland - Currently there is resentment in winter sports and at Deutsche Bahn. In Innsbruck-IGLS, a renovation of the Olympic ice channel is financed with 30 million euros, but a women's circulation is missing at the new start. Julia Taubitz, the overall World Cup winner, expressed her lack of understanding: "This is incredibly a shame. We sit there without a window, without speakers and with a hot fan." The railway chief Reinhard Poller confirmed that there is no solution in sight and that the construction work, which should be completed by October 2024, were hastily planned due to scarce. Tobogganing world champion Wolfgang Kindl was also disappointed: "Unfortunately, the changing rooms are missing, you have to do the best now", while the record world champion Toni Eggert emphasized that understanding was asked despite the provisional conditions.

Bonus too high despite poor performance

At the same time, Deutsche Bahn is confronted with massive allegations. Despite the unchanged poor punctuality and customer satisfaction values, the management bonuses of around five million euros should receive, as research by NDR, WDR and the Süddeutsche Zeitung. In 2022, only every second train reached its destination on time, which triggered significant dissatisfaction with both customers and employees. Nevertheless, the board members achieved bonuses because numerous agreed goals were exceeded, including employee satisfaction and the proportion of female managers.

The internal documents show that the CEO Richard Lutz alone can expect 1.3 million euros in bonus, while other board members also benefit from high payments. The remuneration raises questions about the fairness of the success measurement, especially in view of the critical infrastructure and dilapidated. In 2024, a new remuneration model is to be introduced to fundamentally change the salary structure. The current situation calls for reforms to lead the Deutsche Bahn out of its crisis and to regain the trust of passengers, while further challenges have to be addressed in the winter sports environment.
