Storm low lame train traffic in the north - travelers in need!

storm damage is currently affecting rail traffic in northern Germany and beyond. The ICE route between Hamburg and Berlin was closed on the evening of January 6, 2025 due to storm damage. A tree blocks the tracks at Dergenthin, which significantly impairs train traffic between Ludwigslust and Wittenberge. Travelers have to expect a significant extension of the travel time of up to 90 minutes.

in Schleswig-Holstein and other federal states, including North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony, there are also weather-related impairments in local and regional traffic. The Regional Express Re6 (from Hamburg-Altona to Westerland/Sylt) is expected to drive at a reduced speed until Tuesday morning. In addition, some RE6 trains begin and end in Elmshorn.

Current concerns in train traffic

The impairments also affect other regional trains in the region. The RE7 (from Flensburg/Kiel Hbf to Hamburg Hbf) is redirected, which means that the stop in Hamburg Dammtor is eliminated. The RE70 (Kiel Hbf - Hamburg Hbf) ends in Pinneberg. In addition, the RE8/RE80 (Hamburg Hbf-Lübeck Hbf) only runs between Lübeck Hbf and Bad Oldesloe, and a bus replacement traffic has been set up. The RB81 (Hamburg Hbf-Bargteheide) only runs between Ahrensburg and Hamburg Hbf with also furnished bus replacement traffic.

Deutsche Bahn is doing its best to minimize the effects of the storm damage and inform the travelers in good time. However, trees in the track and other storm damage repeatedly lead to delays, partial and complete failures in all local transport, such as stern.de and West-Ost-Medien
