ÖBB shines in the night train ranking: Best provider in Europe!

The renowned railway companies in Europe were recently analyzed by the NGO Transport & Environment (T&E) in a comprehensive comparison, and the results are surprising: Trenitalia leads the ranking as the best railway company, followed by the Swiss Federal Railway (SBB) and the Czech Regiojet. The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) took fourth place, which indicates an overall pleasant performance, especially in the area of night trains, where ÖBB even took first place, as krone.at

In the ranking, which is based on an evaluation of eight important criteria, the price-performance ratio was particularly emphasized. According to the examination, the SBB and Trenitalia offer a good balance between price and service quality. In contrast, Deutsche Bahn (DB) cut off with a disappointing 16th place. The analysis also found that higher prices do not automatically ensure better service quality. The T&E authors asked the European countries to invest in the rail infrastructure and reduce the fees for rail operators to offer cheaper tickets. This could help strengthen the competitiveness of the railway companies and to gain more passengers while the mobility offering in Europe is being improved at the same time.
