Boy do an incredible 2500 km bike tour to Morocco in just 19 days!

Luis Freitag, 21 years old and from Frammersbach, has successfully completed an impressive bike tour from Freiburg im Breisgau to Morocco. He covered the 2500 kilometer route in just 19 days and reached his destination thanks to a ferry from Algeciras to Tanger-Medina. The tour started on September 17, 2024 and was taken together with his cousin Jonathan Reinhart, 22 from Schweinfurt.

The idea for the extensive bike tour came about the year before, with the aim of winning sponsors and producing YouTube videos. The route led them along the Rhône and mainly on the coast, with average covering about 130 kilometers per day. During their trip, the two participants had to deal with various challenges, including busy roads, dirt roads, wind, knee pain and heat. In order to relieve the pain in the knee, Friday hired its saddle, while Reinhart also suffered from knee and Achilles tendon pain.

Details about the tour

An accompanying vehicle supported you up to half the route, but then only transported water and meals, so that you had to wear your luggage yourself. In total, the two cyclists completed 153 hours and 9 minutes of travel and accomplished 12,660 meters upwards and 12,950 meters of altitude. Friday documented their trip with three cameras, and the videos were published in four parts on YouTube.

Food intake was a difficult undertaking, as many restaurants were closed during the tour. Apart from the sporting challenge, Friday also has personal successes: he received a place at the private acting school Zerboni in Munich for autumn 2025. Previously, he had produced films such as "Catch Me IF You Can" and "Biker vs. Gangster" and also worked as a extras in the "Alarm for Cobra 11" series in Cologne. His girlfriend Mina also works in Munich.

For cyclists who are interested in the exploration of Munich, the city offers an excellently expanded public transport network with sufficient cycle paths, which are often accessible by subway or S-Bahn. As komoot.com there are numerous bike tours that offer interesting stops and options for return by train.

The bicycle lending of the Munich transport network includes various equipment such as trailers and helmets, whereby alternatives such as tandems, e-bikes and recessed bikes are also available. Particularly noteworthy are popular cycle paths such as the Isar cycle path or routes to lakes such as the Schliersee and Tegernsee, which represent ideal destinations for sporty ambitious
