VW ID.3: MEGA price reduction brings e-mobility below 30,000 euros!
Volkswagen (VW) decided in a significant reduction in price to reduce the costs for its popular electric car for the first time. From October 2024, the entry price for the basic model ID.3 Pure will decrease by 3,600 euros. The entry price is reduced from 36,900 euros to 33,300 euros. The automobile manufacturer from Wolfsburg announced this in order to significantly increase the sales figures of its electrical models.
The price adjustment is a strategic step in a highly competitive market in which more and more manufacturers are offering their electric vehicles. According to information from www.merkur.de The reduced price of 33,300 euros also benefits from a VW bonus of 3,570 euros, so that the final price drops to less than 30,000 euros. This could make the vehicle one of the more attractive options on the German E-car market. Experts estimate that this should be significantly stimulating the sales figures.
price adjustment for the entire model offer
Volkswagen plans to apply the price reduction not only for the basic model ID.3 pure, but also for other models of the ID. 3 series. The full price overview shows that the remaining variants of ID.3 are also cheaper. For example, the ID.3 per 39,995 euros is reduced to 32,855 euros, while the ID.3 GTX will now be available for 43,655 euros.

effects on CO₂ specifications
The current price reduction is not only a sales strategy, but also a crucial step with regard to the upcoming CO₂ emission requirements of the European Union, which will come into force from 2025. With the price reduction, VW should hope to increase the sales figures of its electric cars in order to comply with the desired limit values. Otherwise, the strict requirements could lead to high penalty payments for the car manufacturer.
In view of the continuing challenges in the market, including higher production costs and persistent delivery bottlenecks, VW also had to correct its sales and sales forecasts for 2024 down. The company now expects around 320 billion euros to achieve sales instead of the previously aimed of five percent compared to 2023. These measures are part of a comprehensive VW strategy in order to better stand up in a rapidly changing car market.
