Saxony-Anhalt: Number of electric car loading points increases rapidly!
Electromobility in Saxony-Anhalt experiences a remarkable upswing. More and more users of electric cars are finding access to publicly accessible charging points in the region. This is not only important for drivers, but also a step in the right direction for the sustainable turnover of traffic.
By September 1, 2024, 2,459 charging options for electric vehicles are registered in Saxony-Anhalt. Of these, 800 are particularly suitable for quick charging. Compared to January 2024, when around 2,100 charging points still existed, the number has increased noticeably in the course of this year. The continuous improvement of the charging infrastructure shows that Saxony-Anhalt takes care of the needs of e-car users. In 2023, around 700 new charging points were added, while in 2022 only 300 new locations were created.
ratio of electric cars to loading points
In Saxony-Anhalt, 18,759 electric cars with battery-electrical drive are currently permitted. This leads to a realistic distribution, as 7.6 electric cars come to a charging point. For comparison: In Germany, a value of 15 vehicles per loading point is considered ideal. These figures show that the expansion of the charging infrastructure keeps pace with the new registrations. There are also almost 14,000 plug-in hybrids in the more than 18,000 electric vehicles, which also contribute to increasing the demand for charging stations.
In a nationwide comparison, the charging capacity per charging station in Saxony-Anhalt is an average of 49.2 kilowatts, which is one of the best values. Only Thuringia exceeds Saxony-Anhalt with 50.2 kilowatts. This indicates that the region is increasingly investing in fast charging infrastructure and thus increasing the attractiveness for e-car drivers.
challenges in certain counties
Despite the positive developments, there are challenges in certain regions of Saxony. In the district of Wittenberg, for example, an average of 16.5 electric cars comes to a charging point, which exceeds the directional size of 15 vehicles. The situation is similar in the Jerichower Land, where 15.5 vehicles are eliminated to a charging point. These inequalities show that there are still room for improvements.
The Saxony-Anhalt state government has invested 4.7 million euros in the expansion of the charging infrastructure since 2015. Applications of 1.5 million euros are scheduled for the current year, while 0.2 million euros will be estimated next year. Minister Lydia Hüskens emphasized the importance of a user -friendly electromobility and the need to continue to invest in public charging infrastructure and to reduce bureaucracy.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Digital evaluates the general distribution of charging points as appropriate. "There is an increasing adjustment of the charging infrastructure in the counties," said a spokesman for the ministry. Nevertheless, the challenge remains to guarantee a nationwide supply.
