Revolution on four wheels: Elaphe presents new Sonic.1 wheel hub engine Sonic.1
Elaphe recently presented a new wheel hub motor called Sonic.1, which offers promising properties for high -performance vehicles. The Sonic.1 represents the first in-wheel solution that is compatible with high-performance brakes and integrates large 400 mm brake discs in a 21-inch rim.
This innovative engine is specially designed for vehicles with a limited space and offers a continuous output of 200 kW per wheel, while the peak output is up to 255 kW. With a high performance density of over 5 kW/kg in the event of continuous performance, Sonic.1 is able to significantly improve vehicle dynamics.
performance features and application
The Sonic.1 enables 10 % faster acceleration, a 15 % shorter braking distance and a 15 % higher cross acceleration thanks to Torque Vectoring. In addition, the engine is compatible with conventional wheel and suspension systems, which facilitates integration into existing vehicle designs. The Sonic.1 is marketed as a plug-and-play solution for both combustion and electric vehicles, whereby it can also act as an additional performance upgrade.
The Sonic.1 is presented at CES 2025 in cooperation with Italy. This company shows the Quintessenza concept vehicle, which is equipped with Sonic.1 engines on all four wheels. Elaphe has been specializing in wheel hub engines for many years and, for example, produces engines for the E-Pickup Lordstown Endurance, which has been on the streets since 2022.
