New Honda Prelude: Sports car icon celebrates comeback in Europe!
In an exciting announcement, Honda announced the new Prelude, the sports coupé with the legendary history, for early 2026. The sixth prelude will not only be available in Europe, but also brings a new gear technology that is known under the name "D+ Shift". This function is intended to simulate the sound and the feeling of sporting gear changes and thus intensify the driving experience. The Honda Prelude will be equipped with a hybrid drive, probably based on the proven E: HEV unit of the current Honda Civic, which combines a two-liter four-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor. This innovative drive system could offer an impressive system output of over 200 hp, and that with a weight of less than 1.5 tons, which should ensure lively driving performance. Previous models of the Prelude were known for their unique technologies, starting by the first generation, which was the first Japanese series vehicle with ABS, to the introduction of rear axle steering in later generations, such as Wikipedia Notes.
The sporting dimensions of the new prelude, which are about 4.3 meters in length, ensure that it falls into the same league as the GR86. While Honda does not want to make a specific prices, a base price of around CHF 45,000 to 50,000 is suspected. With the new Prelude, Honda positions itself in a previously limited market for affordable sports cars and promises an exciting driving experience for all sports car lovers.
