Ingolstadt, Deutschland - Audis A3, a popular compact model, gets a fresh update in its engine range. With the introduction of two new plug-in hybrid variants, the electrical range is significantly increased. Now these models reach a range of more than 100 kilometers, which is an improvement compared to the previous models.

The redesign of the A3, which took place in the spring of this year, now also brings back the plug-in hybrid versions. There are two variants to choose from, and both models are based on a new 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine that replaces the previous 1.4-liter engine. The less potent version offers a system output of 150 kW, which corresponds to 204 hp, while the more powerful model can be used to go out with 200 kW (272 hp).

An essential part of this new generation of A3 hybrids is the almost doubled battery capacity of 19.7 kWh (net). As a result, the vehicle can now cover up to 143 kilometers purely electrically. For comparison: In the previous models, the combustion engine had to be active after a maximum of 66 kilometers. This increase in range enables drivers to cover everyday routes completely electrically, which is both ecologically and economically advantageous.

In addition, the engineers in Ingolstadt have also improved the charging infrastructure. The new plug-in hybrids can be charged for the first time on quick charging stations with up to 50 kW. Load capacity of up to 11 kW is possible on a private wall box, which significantly increases flexibility and user -friendliness when charging.

The order of the new PHEV variants of the Audi A3 will be possible from the end of October 2024. The entry -level price for the A3 40 TFSIE is CHF 53,400, while the more powerful model, the A3 45 TFSie, will be available from CHF 56,900. These price points reflect the advanced technology and the improved performance of the vehicles.
