Viennese construction police receive TÜV certificate: model for transparency and compliance!
The MA 37 - construction police of the city of Vienna recently reached an important milestone: it was the first administrative office in Austria with a "complete certification" by TÜV Austria GmbH. This certification is based on a comprehensive examination of the compliance guidelines and documents that the MA 37 plays at the front in terms of incorrectness. According to the Vienna magistrate director Dietmar Griebler, this is the result of strict compliance and regulations, which also promotes transparent working methods.
Gerhard Cech, the construction police chief, described the award of the certificate as a "special event". His department officially underwent the high international standards to prove their conformity. The certificate is not only regarded as an award, but also as an incentive to continuously improve the standards and to stay up to date. In addition to the basis of this certification, the city of Vienna - especially in protection zones - expects owners to meet their responsibility to maintain buildings. This applies not only to the structural substance, but also to comply with the building regulations and the protection of the external appearance, taking into account the applicable development regulations. The MA 37 is thus considered a model for other authorities, while several other departments of the city also strive for partial certifications according to ISO 37301, such as wien.gv.at
obligations and challenges of the owners
As part of the applicable amendment to building law, owners are obliged to keep their buildings in proper condition. This includes the documentation of maintenance measures in a "building book". In the event of violations, authorities can issue notices for repair or even initiate criminal proceedings. MA 37 plays a central role in monitoring compliance with compliance, while special measures for species protection must also be taken into account in the event of renovations. This particularly affects buildings that are inhabited by protected animals such as birds and bats, which further increases the complexity of the structural requirements, such as press.wien.gv.at reported.
