Competition for sustainable timber construction: prices for innovative projects 2025!

New York, USA - On March 27, 2025, the non -profit organization Built by Nature (BBN) announced the introduction of the global price in 2025 in order to honor outstanding services in responsible timber construction. The focus here is on the award of exemplary applications of the Principles for Responsible Timber Construction in wooden buildings. The initiatives are intended to illustrate the connection between responsible timber construction and positive effects on the environment and society.

The application period for grants opens on April 7, while the award ceremony will take place at the Built by Nature Summit in October. Excellent buildings are also presented in a documentary and on the COP30, which is considered an important forum to combat climate change. An international expert committee will evaluate the submissions, whereby the evaluation is based on the previously developed principles.

sustainable timber construction and global cooperation

The principles for responsible timber construction were designed in cooperation with the Forest and Climate Leaders Partnership (FCLP) and other partners. These emphasize the need for hybrid buildings that use low-carbon materials. According to the principles, wood, as a traditional building material, has to replace the potential, carbon -intensive materials. Wood removes carbon from the atmosphere and stores it in buildings, which makes it a valuable component in the fight against climate change.

In December 2023, 17 countries signed the FCLP initiative "Greening Construction with Sustainable Timber" and thereby recognized the potential of building timber to combat climate change and deforestation. However, the currently increasing demand for wood carries risks if the forests are not managed sustainably. BBN and FCLP work together to define best practices from forest to construction and at the same time the public sector and private actors in discussions to include sustainable wood production.

a review and outlook on Cop30

With regard to the COP30, which is seen as a crucial moment for responsible timber construction methods, it is essential for governments to check existing policies and standards. On a round table in New York, more than 25 players had the opportunity to discuss success up to the COP30. Consal formation is necessary to develop targeted measures so that measures can be taken in good time in order to create the requirements for sustainable timber construction.

Due to the growing public interest and the commitment of investors and companies, the price 2025 is a crucial step to increase awareness of responsible timber construction. Applications are open to all wooden buildings that correspond to the criteria. English is the preferred language, but translations are available on request. Further information on application criteria and procedures are on the website of Built Nature to be found.
