Wine award 2025: Burgenland's winemakers fight for gold medals!
The Burgenland wine award is just around the corner, and for winemakers this is an opportunity to present their best creations and to compete with the competition. The annual event, which will find its highlights in Eisenstadt this year on May 6th in Esterhazy Castle, offers not only an incentive to increase quality, but also marketing advantages for the participating companies through valuable awards such as gold medals. Verena Klöckl from the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture emphasizes that the winemakers can better make their own company known to potential customers through this award. An brand new this year is a medal sticker that is emblazoned on the bottles to highlight the quality of the excellent wines. "The feedback shows that customers react strongly to this medal -like award," explains Klöckl.
Before it comes to the gala, there are some important deadlines and guidelines that the winemakers have to consider. The samples can only be handed over to the specified dates from March 15 to 16 between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., and it is absolutely necessary that the associated test number on the label of the sample matches the official documents. The cost contribution for each rehearsal amounts to 55 euros, which must be transferred in advance because cash payments are not accepted. In order to ensure a regulated acceptance of the samples, it is important that the bottles are not mixed and that only wines can be submitted from approved grape varieties that have grown in Burgenland, as the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture explains.
An additional highlight of this year's wine award is the possibility of delivering the viticulture associations collected, which makes participation easier for the winegrowers. Only one wine with the same state test number may be submitted, and all wines must already be filled and properly closed at the time of submission. The Burgenland wine award is therefore not only a competition for the best wines, but also a platform for winemakers to show their quality and stay at the pulse of the wine industry.
