Ostwürttemberg on the upswing: three trainees chosen as federal best!

A total of 207 federal best trainees were awarded this year in Germany. Most of these award winners come from Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia, each with 37 trainees, followed by Baden-Württemberg, which can provide 35 outstanding trainees. The award of three trainees from East Württemberg, which are represented in the list of federal best: Milena Hofmann by Edeka Miller, Fabian Krieg of light kitchens and Arturas Valancius from Carl Zeiss AG is particularly remarkable. These awards show the high standards and the qualifications of the training companies in the region.

The event for honoring the award winners was accompanied by prominent personalities. Peter Adrian, President of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), and Robert Habeck, Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister of Economics, congratulated the excellent trainee and emphasized the importance of their successes for the future of vocational training. Adrian drew attention to the challenges with which dual training is confronted, so every second IHK training company was not able to fill all training positions. In addition, almost 30,000 training companies did not receive a single application. In order to counteract this, Adrian called for a mandatory professional orientation in schools, including high schools.

dual training in Germany

like bmbf.de , dual vocational training is the prevailing form of training in Germany. It combines practical training in the company with theoretical lessons in the vocational school. Trainees are integrated into the work processes from the start and are accompanied by experienced specialists. Two thirds of the training take place in practice, while vocational schools are organized by the federal states. The Vocational Training Act (BBiG) regulates the framework conditions and the minimum standards for training, including the training allowance and the content of the training contract.

The legal framework includ over 1,000 recognized dual apprenticeships. As part of this training, the trainees spend about two thirds of their time in the company and take part in vocational school lessons, which takes place on one or two days a week or in block format. Companies are obliged to release trainees for the vocational school, and these times are counted towards the training period. Exemption is also necessary for exams, which shows how serious dual training is taken in Germany.
