Neufahrn celebrates the cohesion: Solidarity prize for committed citizens!
On Friday, January 17th, the SPD Neufahrn organizes its traditional New Year at the Hotel Landgasthof Hofmeier. As part of this celebration, the renowned “Neufahrner Solidarity Prize” is awarded to people or groups who have made a contribution to the cohesion in the community.
Last year, Elena Karafillis and Oksana Elbe received the award for their outstanding commitment to Ukrainian refugees. In the following award ceremony in 2024 Ludwig Grundner, who represented the team of the Neufahrner Advent stand. This stand was launched almost 20 years ago, and Ludwig Grundner was part of the team from the start. The SPD Neufahrn celebrated a New Year's festival in the Landgasthof Hofmeier in 2023 after a forced break of two years. According to Neufahrner Echo awarded the first "Neufahrner Solidarity Prize" to Elena Karafillis and Oksana Elbe. Since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, both women campaigned for refugee people in Neufahrn. Beate Frommhold-Buhl, the social officer and chairman of the refugee helper group, praised the commitment of the award winners and emphasized her role as a central point of contact for Ukrainians.
After the outbreak of the war, the refugees were not accommodated by the district office, but by private hosts. The number of refugees recorded in Neufahrn rose to 130, whereby Karafillis and Elbe provide support in the integration, advice and organization of aid offers.
