Neubrandenburg celebrates 777 years: A festival of citizens and entrepreneurs!

Neubrandenburg celebrated its 777th anniversary of the city in 2025. In the run -up to the festival year, special events took place in January 2025, which formed the prelude to a versatile program. On January 4, 2025, a citizens' reception was held in the concert church, in which numerous citizens and companies were recognized.

The founding of the city of Neubrandenburg goes back to 1248. On this day, the Margrave of Brandenburg in Berlin-Spandau signed the foundation's letter to found the city. As part of the celebrations, those present reminded of this historical date.

Citizens' reception and awards

The citizens' reception in the concert church offered a platform for honoring committed citizens and entrepreneurs of the city. Mayor Silvio Witt welcomed the guests and underlined the importance of the volunteer. Political guests of honor such as the Vice President of the state parliament Beate Schlupp as well as members of the Bundestag and members of agricultural and district days were also present.

The company of 2024, Autohaus Eschengrund GmbH, was awarded for its contribution to the compatibility of work and family, inclusion and local support. Managing Director Peter Kuboth accepted the award. In addition, the committed citizens were honored for their voluntary work, while Mayor Thomas Gesswein held the laudation. In another highlight, Dr. Gundula Engelhard awarded the Wilhelm-Ehlers medal for her services in cultural and literature work.

The Olympionics Claudine Vita and Lindy Ave received

sporting honor for their participation in the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The cultural design of the reception was taken over by the Neubrandenburg e.V. dance action and the musicians Theo & Torsten, while 17-year-old Tim Bauer played on the organ.
