Museum Bückeburg shows exciting events for 2025!

The Bückeburg Museum looks back on a successful year 2023, in which almost 11,000 people visited the exhibition. Entry to the museum is free of charge, which encourages many visitors to donate. In addition, the museum is actively involved in city events, whereby the cooperation with the city and the castle is positive.

Numerous events are planned for the first half of 2024. On January 15, the event "Museum im Darklen" for children from 5 years will take place, followed by a lecture by Karsten Klaus on January 30 on the history of the local newspapers. In addition, the “requested” series of events will be continued with two other events in February and March. A concert by the "Cowhouse Project" will take place on February 7th, while events on the tour guide day on April 27th and the International Museum Day are planned on May 18th.

Current exhibitions and future plans

The museum currently offers a double exhibition entitled "Prussia and Schaumburg-Lippe: Different clothing sizes", which can be seen until March 2024. A successful lecture by Carsten Reuss on the current exhibition is accompanied by a brochure that is to be released in the spring. In addition, pupils in the museum educational field have the opportunity to design their own exhibition at the end of June.

For 2025, the expansion of museum education and the improvement of storage conditions for textiles are planned. The museum has received an award for accessibility under the motto "Travel for everyone" and takes part in the "Pro*Lower Saxony" project to research early traditional costume in cooperation with the University of Oldenburg.

A special highlight is the lecture on January 30, 2025 at 6 p.m., in which a long-time employee of the Schaumburg-Lippische Landeszeitung will present the history of the daily newspapers. Registration is not required.

The special exhibition "Different clothing sizes" will be opened on November 22, 2024 in the Bückeburg Museum and in the LWL Prussian Museum in Minden. This exhibition addresses the relationship between the great power of Prussia and the small state of Schaumburg-Lippe in the period from 18 to 20th centuries.
