Michelin relies on green tires: sustainability for the future!
The French tire manufacturer Michelin is currently facing major challenges. According to the OE24 report, the company recorded a decline in sales volume by 5.1 percent in 2024. The sales of tires for new cars and light commercial vehicles in Europe, which have dropped by 7 percent, are particularly affected. This situation is due to uncertainty among consumers who hold their purchases back due to the changed subsidies for electric cars in countries such as Germany. Michelin proposed a dividend of 1.38 euros per share for its shareholders, which is a slight increase in comparison to the previous year.
sustainable initiatives and cooperation
But Michelin not only sees a future perspective in the sales figures, but also in his sustainable orientation. As azur-netzwerk.de reports, Michelin has joined the Allianz Future (Azur) in order to further advance the tire circuit industry. As the largest tire manufacturer in the world, Michelin is aiming to produce 100 percent of sustainable materials by 2050. In addition, the retirement renewal, in which high -quality tires are reused, should be intensified. These measures show that Michelin maintains a clear course for environmentally friendly solutions even in times of economic difficulties.
The efficiency of the tire industry is strengthened by the partnership with Azur. The accession is called "an award of the previous commitment" by Christina Guth, the network coordinator of Azur. Together with over 50 partners from industry and science, the network should give new impulses for the industry. Dr. Christoph Vondenhoff by Michelin emphasizes the importance of this cooperation to develop innovative and environmentally friendly solutions that meet the challenges of the changing market.
