Leipzig Book Fair 2025: Barbi Marković inspires with mini horror!
Wien, Österreich - The Leipzig Book Prize made exciting moments of surprise this year! Serbian author Barbi Marković, who lived in Vienna, received the coveted award for her narrative band "Mini -Horror". Her stories take readers into a world full of oblique humor and everyday nightmares in which the protagonists Mini and Miki encounter unexpected challenges. This collection of Short Stories, which was published by Residenz Verlag, describes entertaining grotesque scenarios - for example, Minis Cousin Jennifer turns into a human -eating monster that can only be tamed with a children's song. This was reported by the Kurier .
Marković was also inspired by her own thank you speech. In a humorous way, she referred to "Mini", who failed shockingly during her appearance on stage, but won the hearts of the audience. In her acceptance speech, she ironicized the literary fame and told about misfortune and challenges that shape everyday life. This mixture of humor and substance has convinced the jury, which recognized the irony and deep social allusions in Marković 'work. These aspects of the book show how satire and humor can interlock in order to shed light on complex topics such as the war of the 90s in Europe, such as Kleine Zeitung added.
nominated and awards
In addition to Barbi Marković, Wolf Haas was also nominated with his work "Property". In the non -fiction book/essayistics category, Tom Holert received the award for his book "About 1972 'Violence - Environment - Identity - Method". The competition was strong: a total of 506 works from 166 publishers were submitted. This year's Leipzig Book Fair will take place from March 27th to 30th, and all of these developments promise exciting discussions about literature and their social role.
