The cross -border city duo Nova Gorica in Slovenia and Gorizia in Italy will bear the honorable award "European Capital of Culture" together with Chemnitz in Germany. This unique project bears the motto "Go! Borderless" and celebrates the cultural connection between two countries. On December 10th, the comprehensive cultural program "Go! 2025" was presented in Gorizia, which includes a rich portfolio of around 400 events on topics such as war and peace, reconstruction and sustainable development, reported Dolomitenstadt.
The solemn opening day is scheduled for February 8th, a date of great symbolic importance: On this day the Slovenian cultural day is celebrated, and the Italian poet Giuseppe Hungaretti, who was born on February 8, 1888, and the Slovenian poet France Prešeren, who died on February 8, 1849. The opening ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. with a move together from Gorizia train station. Prominent guests, such as President Sergio Mattarella and Borut PaHor, are expected.
a cultural program of extra class
The planned program includes concerts, exhibitions, national congresses, festivals and theater performances. Culinary events and tours of both cities as well as training and film screenings are also on the agenda. According to Sebastiano Callari, the cultural representative of the Friuli Julian Veneto region, these events not only have a symbolic value. They combine several identities and show how peaceful coexistence can be designed in Europe.
The history of this region is characterized by significant cultural influences. Gorizia, historically a center of trade and cultural encounter, has developed into a multi -ethnic city since the division after the First World War. The different cultures live together in the city, which is located on the edge of the Alps, and Gorizia is not only a place of historical importance, but also a lively example of cultural cooperation, as can be experienced in Wikipedia.
