Himmelward: friendship and hope win the children's book price
Freiburg im Breisgau, Deutschland - in Bonn, Karen Köhler and Bea Davies were awarded the Catholic Children's and Youth Book Prize of the German Bishops' Conference for their impressive work "Himmelwärts". The jury praised the book as a powerful story about friendship and consolation in difficult times. It is about ten -year -old Toni who lost her mother, and her friend Yumyum, who builds a "cosmic radio" to communicate with the late mother. This innovative idea leads the two children on a touching journey, while they also meet other figures like an astronaut on the ISS. According to the jury, the book conveys comfort without arousing without false hopes, and lets space for important questions of life after death, such as kathpress.at reported.
