Outstanding Berliners wanted: nomination period for medal starts!

The Mitte district office in Berlin is calling on citizens to submit suggestions for the District Merit Medal 2024 to submit. The nomination deadline ends on March 31, 2024. The medal is awarded to people who have distinguished themselves through outstanding volunteer work in Berlin-Mitte.

In total, up to eight people can be awarded. To be nominated, proposals must contain a detailed justification and information about the proposed person. The decision on the winners is made by the district office in collaboration with the head of the district council. The ceremonial awarding of the district medal of merit will take place in 2025 and will be carried out by the district mayor Stefanie Remlinger (Greens) and the district councilor Jelisaweta Kamm (Greens).

Award details

How berlin.de reports, the district office and the district council in Mitte in Berlin award up to eight district merit medals every year. The award is given for voluntary commitment or personal achievements in the Mitte district of Berlin. Proposals for the award can also be submitted by March 31st of each year.

Submissions must be made in writing or by email and should include a detailed justification, CV and name, address and date of birth of the nominee. The address for submissions is the Mitte district office in Berlin, press office, 13341 Berlin or by email to presse@ba-mitte.berlin.de. The honorees are selected by the district councilor and other members of the district office in an internal process. The celebratory award ceremony will also be carried out by the district mayor and the head of the district council.
