civil courage saves life

Not only the foundation of the association ensures positive headlines. On the edge of another incident in Waiblingen, civil courage and quick action by witnesses impressively demonstrated how human commitment can save life. A 23-year-old noticed that an 84-year-old man had gotten into a ditch with his SUV. Tobias Dischinger was able to act in good time to call help. Together with the trauma surgeon Manuel Kristen, who happened to be nearby, they managed to control the situation. The car had gotten into a watercourse and threatened to drop with rising water levels, which made the rescue more difficult, such as Krzbb reported.

Just when the situation was tense, they alerted the emergency services. Various rescue workers also had to improvise with their experience and equipment in order to free the older man out of the falling vehicle. Ultimately, the man who was slightly hypothermic came, but thanks to the extraordinary rapidity of both men, unharmed. For their courageous action, both the man who made the emergency call and the medical helpers were honored with an award, which underlines how important civil courage is in critical situations.
