Golden Earth apple 2025: Austria's best potato producers honored!

Auersthal, Österreich - On February 12, 2025, the “Golden Earth's Pull” was awarded to the best potato producers in Austria as part of a solemn specialist day of the Potera Construction (IGE). This year the award celebrates its tenth anniversary, and the focus was again on the outstanding quality of domestic potatoes. A total of 179 samples from the 2024 harvest were tested and evaluated in a blind tasting, whereby the Austrian consumers place particularly great importance on quality and regionality.

In the category "Cooking", the breeders Christine and Karl Hellmer triumphed with their variety "Valdivia". Lorenz Mayr, Vice President of the Lower Austria Chamber of Agriculture, praised the innovative strength of the domestic farmers, while the category "Mainly solid/flourly" by Sonja and Andreas was led to him with the "Belmonda" variety.
