FH Technikum Vienna receives environmental signs: pioneers for green education!
Wien, Österreich - The FH Technikum Vienna was the first and only university in Austria to receive the Austrian environmental label for educational institutions. This award, which indicates environmental awareness, social responsibility and quality of education, is based on a comprehensive examination in three essential areas. This includes education for sustainable development, responsibility in university operations as well as internal and external communication on sustainability. Managing Director Barbara Czak-Pobheim announced that the completion of the project to Earth Day will be celebrated on April 22nd.
Managing Director Florian Eckkrammer emphasizes that obtaining the environmental sign is an important milestone for sustainable education. The FH Technikum Vienna has set itself ambitious goals, including the anchoring of ESG content in its educational offers, the complete changeover to the environmental stream and the greening of the outdoor areas of the university. In doing so, the Institution underpins its role in the 2030 agenda, which stimulates the universities worldwide to promote sustainable developments.
sustainability in university education
The FH Technikum Vienna, which was founded in 1994 and produced more than 18,000 graduates, currently study over 4,700 students in more than 30 bachelor and master's degrees. These not only integrate scientific foundation, but also practical content. Particular attention is paid to gender equality, since the including the work environment and the funding for women are highlighted.
According to the DAAD, universities contribute decisively to solve local and global challenges and have a key role in implementing all sustainability goals. They train qualified specialists and strengthen the local economy. The support of evidence -based political counseling and the development of innovative solutions are just as central aspects of university formation as the promotion of entrepreneurial thinking and action. These points are in accordance with the requirements of the UN that were set in the 2030 Agenda in order to promote sustainable development.
Responsibility of the universities
The University Rectors' Conference (HRK) recognized the importance of universities for sustainability and presented recommendations for the integration of sustainable principles in research, teaching and service. The Bonn declaration, which was adopted "Education for Sustainable Development" during the final conference of the UNESCO world decade, emphasizes this approach and calls for political framework conditions of the federal and state governments to support these developments.
In view of these far -reaching links between university formation and sustainability, it becomes clear that the FH Technikum Vienna meets with its award both its responsibility as an educational institution and makes a valuable contribution to the global sustainability agenda.Details | |
