The Devil Bad: Austria's film of the year triumphs with 8 awards!
On April 18, 2025, the Austrian Film Award 2024 was awarded in the Vienna City Hall, and the big winner of the evening was the film "Des Teufels Bad", which was chosen by the Austrian film criticism as a film of the year. The directors Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala were able to take a total of eight prizes home with their work, including the award for the best film and for the best female leading role that Anja Plaschg received.
The award ceremony was moderated by Emily Cox and Dirk Stermann and was under the idea of appreciation of creativity and diversity in contemporary Austrian film. At the event, the late producer Kurt Mayer and the producer Lisa Scheid were also recognized in a special commemoration. In total, 332 films that started in Austria last year were rated.

symbolism of the award
The Austrian Film Award is also called "Papieren Gustl" and is a symbol for the appreciation of the Austrian film distributors. The cartoon depicted on the Gustl certificate comes from the American silent film director Malcolm St. Clair.
