Scholz defends himself against CDU allegations: deeply indecent!
The Chancellor Olaf Scholz sharply criticized the false claims by CDU MP Roderich Kiesewetter on January 5, 2025. Scholz called the statements "deeply indecent" and emphasized that there were no indications of this. Kiesewetter had claimed on Platform X that there were indications of an upcoming trip from Scholz to Moscow before the Bundestag election in February.
The SPD leadership has also made a clear statement against Kiesewetter's statements. Group leader Rolf Mützenich described the allegations as "freely invented", while the SPD general secretary Matthias Miersch spoke of a "perfidious approach". Miersch asked Kiesewetter to withdraw and apologize. Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit also announced legal steps against Kiesewetter and described his statements as evil recovery.
Scholz 'communication with Putin
Scholz last telephoned with Russian President Vladimir Putin in November 2024, which caused anger in Ukraine and Eastern European NATO partners. The Chancellor was previously before the Russian major invasion in Ukraine in Moscow. The CDU recalled a fairness agreement that was signed by all parties except the AfD and BSW. Scholz 'conversation with Putin and the speculation about a possible journey of Moscow have again fueled the debate about the foreign policy of the federal government, as Tagesschau reported.
These current allegations and the reactions on it show the tensions between the political parties in Germany in the run -up to the Bundestag election and illustrate how sensitive the topic around Russia and Ukraine is perceived. Scholz himself had recently emphasized that there were no plans for a trip to Moscow.
