Vienna chooses a new urban engineering court director: Sedlak convinces all parties!

Wien, Österreich - On December 17, 2024, the Vienna municipal council unanimously decided to appoint Werner Sedlak as a new city council director from July 1, 2025. GR Mag. Dietbert Kowarik (FPÖ) emphasized that Sedlak's professional qualifications were "undisputed", a view that was also shared by Jörg Konrad (NEOS). Konrad praised the independent and transparent work of the city architecture courtyard and was impressed by Sedlak's performance during the Hearings. David Ellensohn from the Greens also supported the proposal and spoke of Sedlak's "clean and decent work". This candidacy is of crucial importance, since the order takes place every twelve years and thus guarantees long -term stability in the city technical center.

In another important point, the municipal councils dealt with the transfer of technical management to the KMB from 1991. Grin Barbara Huemer (Greens) discussed the current developments around the VAMED group, which was smashed this year. She expressed concerns about the contractual framework and called for a review by the magistrate. The need to find alternative solutions and check possible additional agreements was emphasized. GR Christian Deutsch (SPÖ) said that the changed ownership structure of the KMB brings with it corresponding risks. The municipal council finally unanimously agreed to review the operating contract, while the Greens' application was rejected.
