Order of Merit for volunteers: Rhein-Sieg-Kreis honors committed citizens
On December 19, 2024, outstanding personalities were awarded the Federal Order of Office in a solemn event in the Siegburg district house for their special merits in the Rhein-Sieg district. District Administrator Sebastian Schuster presented the awards to four committed citizens who work in the areas of culture, social affairs, the environment and society. With this honor, the valuable work that many people do in silence is recognized and, in some cases, even a direct bridge to German culture, which is also demonstrated by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius from the awarding of the Medal of Merit, as on ausbadhonnef.de reported.
In another solemn act, Dr. Friedemann Spicker from Königswinter presented the Federal Cross of Merit in the gang. This award was given for decades of voluntary work in the cultural area, especially in the world of aphorisms. Dr. Spicker has together with Dr. Jürgen Wilbert founded the German aphorism archive and created a remarkable library and numerous publications in the field of this literary cat. Schuster emphasized how important the work of Spicker is for the literary community and emphasized that this award is significant recognition of its merits. There were congratulations from the Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst and by District President Dr. Thomas Wilk, which also emphasizes the importance of this honor, as in rhein-sieg-kreis.de documented.
The Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, which has been awarded more than 260,000 times since its introduction in 1951, comprises various stages, whereby the Cross of Merit in the ribbon is one of the most common awards. These insignia are not only a sign of appreciation, but also a motivation for future commitment and social activity in society.
