Tragedy in the Gaza Strip: Eight paramedics of the red crescent moon dead!

Gazastreifen, Palästina - On March 31, 2025, the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip was further tightened by the tragic news about the death of eight missing paramedics of the Palestinian Red Head Moon (PRCS). These employees were recovered dead, as were the corpses of first aiders of civil protection and a UN employee. A PRCS employee, on the other hand, remains missing. The President of the Austrian Red Cross, Gerald Schöpfer, expressed that these deaths are a tragedy for the humanitarian world and at the same time an attack on humanitarian work. He makes it clear that humanitarian helpers who work under the protective sign of the Red Cross must not be attacked. Creator appeals to the international community and reminds that humanitarian international law prescribes the protection of humanitarian helpers and health facilities.

The situation in the Gaza Strip remains extremely tense. Since the beginning of the conflict, a total of 36 employees have been killed in the inside of the Red Cross and Red Cross movement- 30 of them from the PRCS and 6 from the Israeli Rotkreuz-Gesellschaft stomach stomach. The Austrian Red Cross has therefore started a petition to request compliance with humanitarian international law. [OTS]

risks for humanitarian helpers

The distribution of relief goods in the Gaza Strip is under extreme risk. Humanitarian organizations such as the IKRK need safe conditions to carry out emergency aid measures. Regular, timely and safe distribution is currently hardly possible, and employees: Inside IKRK and PRCs work under life -threatening conditions. The more than 80% of the population in Gaza, which rely on humanitarian aid, also suffer from the devastating effects of the conflict. Before the escalation, 95% of the certificate had no access to clean water. The IKRK calls for immediate access to hostages and their release, since hostage frames are prohibited according to humanitarian international law. Access to auxiliary measures cannot be forced and requires agreements with all parties to the conflict.

Effective measures to supply the civilian population are therefore indispensable. Against the background of the ongoing conflicts and the violations of humanitarian international law, the urgency of a stable and protective infrastructure for humanitarian aid is evident

The role of humanitarian international law

Humanitarian international law, also known as war law, plays a central role in the protection of the civilian population in conflicts. It is intended to minimize the effects of violence in armed conflicts and protects civilians, medical and religious staff as well as wounded fighters. Violations of this right are serious offenses that not only hinder humanitarian aid, but also endanger the life of civilians. Current conflicts that are shaped by such violations show the far -reaching consequences: Over 3,478 deaths and 12,065 injuries in Gaza Since October 2023, only information that underlines the urgency of compliance with humanitarian law. The situation in the region remains tense, and urgent international support is needed to ensure that humanitarian helpers can carry out their work under the necessary protective conditions. The voice for the protection of civilians and humanitarian helpers must be heard urgently in the international community.
