Taxes on property? Peasants warn of existential consequences!

Austria's agriculture and forestry faces dramatic challenges! In view of the impending tax increases, the agricultural and forestry companies, led by Konrad Mylius, call for extensive reforms instead of additional financial burdens. "There are enough opportunities to consolidate the budget for the future. Instead of increasing the tax burden, a fitness check of the budget has to be carried out," said Mylius during the current discussions about the economic future of the country. He urgently warns of the serious consequences of additional substance taxes that would be considered to be threatening to exist for many farms. The assets of farmers are stronger than ever, since it has been invested in the ground and has often been family -owned for generations.

misguided tax policy could not only burden the family businesses concerned, but also endanger the entire economic basis of domestic agriculture. "Taxation would directly attack the substance of these companies and force them to use their areas more intensively or even to sell. That would be a clear contradiction to sustainability and environmental protection," continued Mylius. Also RA Dr. Martin Prunbauer, President of the Austrian House and Land owner Association, supports this position. He emphasizes that the demand for ownership taxes is both ideologically motivated and unjust and requires more an "economic agenda for the future".

new president - fresh wind!

In the middle of this explosive situation, Josef Moosbrugger, President of the Austria Chamber of Agriculture (LKÖ), welcomes Konrad Mylius as the new president of the agricultural and forestry. "I share his goal of promoting simplifications, personal responsibility and freedom of choice for our farms," emphasizes Moosbrugger with full conviction. These positive changes are necessary to ensure the position of Austrian agriculture and forestry in times of climatic changes and social challenges. Moosbrugger also thanks the outgoing president Felix Montecuccoli for his almost 20-year work.

The Land- und Forst companies are working on further securing the domestic forests and fields as a operational basis and at the same time promoting awareness of the concerns of the operated agricultural and forestry companies. The member companies manage together over a quarter of the Austrian forest and are essential producers of regional food.
