Record visit for Freud's museum: 140,424 guests inspired in 2024!
The Sigmund Freud Museum in Vienna set up an impressive visitor record in 2024! With 140,424 visitors, the institution recorded an increase of over 5,000 guests compared to the previous year. This number makes it clear that the interest in Freud and his work is unbroken, as director Monika Pessler confirms. Especially the exhibition "The eerie. Sigmund Freud and Art" played a crucial role in the increase in visitors. Visitors from Germany provided the largest group with 16 percent, followed by Italy (13 percent), the USA (11 percent) and Austria (9 percent), such as reported.
The museum is located in the historical rooms in which Freud lived and worked. After a comprehensive renovation, it was reopened in 2020 and today not only offers insights into Freud's life's work, but also links this with contemporary art and social issues. In 2025 there are exciting innovations on the program, including the special exhibition "The Freud. Documents of Injustice", which deals with the expulsion of Freud's family, as well as a lecture by the Nobel Prize winner J.M. Coetzee on Freud's birthday on May 6th. These developments were emphasized by newspravda.com and show that the museum will continue to play a central role in the cultural life of Vienna.
