Prostate cancer: Wiener Center celebrates the highest treatment quality for five years!
The Hospital of the Merciful Brothers Vienna celebrated its fifth anniversary in the Prostate Cancer Center area today. This center, one of only three certified in Austria, recorded around 400 new patients with the diagnosis of prostate cancer last year. Prim. Dr. Anton Ponholzer emphasized: "The steadily increasing number of new allocations to our center not only shows the growing need, but also the trust in our excellent work." Every year, around 6,000 men fall ill in Austria, which underlines the need for quick and high -quality treatment, as is confirmed by the German Cancer Society.
The certification of the center is based on strict quality criteria that take into account both structural and procedural aspects. Regular tumor boards, in which specialists from various medical disciplines take part, guarantee individual and optimal treatment of each patient. OA Dr. Sebastian Lenart mentioned: "The certification and recertification are the seal of approval for quality -oriented care" and emphasized that the ongoing quality check and security in the interest of the patient is always a top priority.
unique technologies in use
With two DA Vinci surgical systems, the prostate cancer center carries out around 300 robot-assisted interventions annually, including the radical prostate sectomy-a minimally invasive removal of the prostate. This modern intervention enables faster recovery and shortened lying times in the hospital. "Due to our many years of experience, the radical prostate editor with the DA Vinci surgical system has almost become our figurehead," said Dr. Ponholzer and thus underlined the outstanding achievements of the center.
The Hospital of the Merciful Brothers Vienna is the oldest religious hospital in the city, founded in 1614, and has made a name for itself for its extensive patient care, also for people without health insurance. In 2023, almost 14,500 people without insurance were treated there. You can find more information about the hospital on de.wikipedia.org as well as on the official website www.bbwien.at .
