Police operation according to curiosity: Application triggers bomb alarm at ORF!
Wien-Hietzing, Österreich - On Saturday morning, an incident caused a sensation in front of the ORF center in Vienna-Hietzing and led to a large-scale police operation. An older man threw a envelope into the porter house and then quickly disappeared. The ORF porter immediately alerted the police after he had perceived the contents of the envelope as suspicious and expressed the suspicion of a bomb threat. Special forces and explosive experts were requested to clarify the situation. In the investigation, however, it turned out that it was only an application letter
.
Details about the content of the letter have so far been unclear, as well as the question for which TV show the man has applied. The incident happened just a few days after a worrying incident on Tuesday when a 53-year-old man tried to drive a small truck into the same ORF center. He also threatened with a bomb, which led to a large -scale operation and the interruption of ongoing programs. The man was arrested and is now in custody
.
background of the incidents
Because of these last events, the situation is perceived as particularly critical, not only in Vienna, but also in other federal states in Germany. The state security is currently investigating bomb threats against public places, media houses and schools in several cases. Affected countries include Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Thuringia and Saxony. Schools had to be cleared as a precaution here, and in Erfurt some students and a teacher received medical care due to the psychological stress.
The increase in such threats coincides with a nationwide increase in threats, some of which are sent to various institutions by email. These threats have increased in the past few days, especially with the opening of the schools and can be seen as a disruption of public peace, which can lead to legal consequences and fines. For example, a man was sentenced to a fine after pronouncing a bomb threat to the Krefeld branch of the Federal Employment Agency.
In a larger context, there are also corresponding threats in France, which among other things affect the Louvre and resulted in similar evacuation. The Federal Minister of the Interior sees possible relationships between these international threats and events in Germany.
