New shine for Neu-Ulm: Bahnhofstrasse opens again after conversion!

with great anticipation, Neu-Ulm looks at the completion of the construction work on the eastern Bahnhofstrasse, which will be celebrated on Friday, December 13th. After almost nine months of hard work, traffic will finally be able to flow through the area again. Originally, the redesign was to be successfully completed in October, but unforeseen discoveries in the underground caused delays. The city administration uses this conversion not only to improve the flow of traffic, but also for the safety of all road users. The measure cost about 1.7 million euros, of which is covered by funding, such as Augsburger General reported.

new momentum for pedestrians and cyclists

As part of the renovation, a wide range of measures were taken to increase quality of stay. On a distance of 120 meters, new cycling lanes were created and the sidewalk was narrowed to make room for a new protective strip for cyclists. Particularly noteworthy is the newly created crossing for pedestrians at the level of Glacisstrasse, which increases security. Numerous new trees have also upgraded the area, which the residents should please. From December 15th, bus lines 84, 84a, 85, 88, 597, 763 and 870 will take up their usual operation, which strengthens the connection again.

In a further step to improve traffic safety, the intersection Tüllinghofer Straße / Wolfsberger Straße / Bahnhofstrasse in Lüdinghausen is upgraded. On June 27, 2023, acoustic and tactile blind signaling will be installed in order to increase safety for visually impaired people. The traffic lights are briefly switched off during the conversion, and traffic signs take over the regulation of traffic. The total cost of these measures amounts to around 36,000 euros, with the district of Coesfeld and the district government provide support, such as District Coesfeld explained.
