New fish farming in Getzing: Modern Center for Training and Research!
In the Salzburg district of Getzing, the work on the new private fish breeding system is progressing, and that among the watchful eyes of interested neighbors. The ambitious project, headed by the Salzburg Sports Fishing Association, includes a multi-purpose building that consists of six biotechnologically developed modules. Werner Schörghofer, the association's chairman, explains that this container construction is completely isolated and enables enormous cost savings thanks to its modular structure. "We could not have afforded massive construction," said Schörghofer. Among other things, the facility is intended to house a modern training center as well as offices and laboratories for water analyzes.

The modules were ordered in Austria, but built from Bulgaria and delivered. To ensure a precise structure, a car crane had to be used that can lift 80 tons. The total costs for the modernization amount to around 350,000 euros, with numerous volunteer hours being contributed by the club members. Treasurer Josef Huber emphasizes that the cost -intensive construction would not have been feasible without this voluntary use. "The working hours we provide save us a fortune," explains Huber.
The brood house that has already been completed is also used again for rearing. In the eleven ponds of the facility, around ten tons are generated annually, which are then used in the associations of the association. The committed work of the club members not only optimizes fish farming, but also strengthened cohesion in the community, which, according to Schörghofer and Huber, is of crucial importance.
