After 70 years: Gärtnerei Ehmele closes your goals forever!
After over 70 years and countless weekly markets in the region, the Ehmele nursery will close forever at the turn of the year. Owner Pius Ehmele, who took over the family business from his father in 1992, made this difficult decision because both the search for a successor in the family and outside was unsuccessful. "I also have to think of myself," explains the 66-year-old, who now wants to retire to enjoy the fruits of his hard work after moving through the markets in Ehingen, Laupheim and Biberach. "People get older and there are not enough young," continued Ehmele, an everyday problem in the industry, as well as Jahren-gaertneri-schliesst-fuer-immer-immer-immer-men-män-men-män-män-men-män-men-män-men
The end of the nursery will be noticeable, especially for the loyal customers who visit the weekly market in Ehingen every Tuesday. There the striking orange-green striped car was always a familiar sight, packed with fresh products and decorative advent wreaths. The fact that a stand that was part of the market for more than 70 years will no longer be left will leave a gap, the retailers and customers report, as well as swp.de . Ehmele himself is aware that his customers have to change their habits: "It will take another year for them to get used to it," he estimates.
Pius Ehmele plans to actively shape his retirement and already has travel plans to Holland in spring to enjoy the tulip blossom. He not only wants to fill his free time by traveling, but also with hobbies such as crafts and motorcycle tours. The closure of the company is not only a loss for the markets, but also marks the end of an era in which fresh, local products were the focus and the Ehmele nursery had an important place in the heart of many people.
