Musical festival in the Cuxhaven: Choirs and bands inspire the audience!

At the Lichtenberg-Gymnasium in Cuxhaven, two sold-out concerts recently took place, which were carried out for the first time in the double dropout in order to meet the limiting place in the forum. With space for only 180 visitors, the events offered a festive musical experience that delighted the hearts of the audience.

Around 100 schoolchildren of the school performed on two evenings in various ensembles. The class orchestra of grades 6 and 7 were particularly impressive, which came up with a variety of instruments such as recorder, flute, guitars, keyboards, violins, cello and accordion. The repertoire included both Christmas hits and traditional melodies.

musical highlights and record donations

The school band under the direction of Bernhard Zimmermann provided enthusiasm with the performance of the hits "Smooth Operator", especially since the musicians performed with sunglasses in style. The singers Hong Lan Bui and Elisabeth Hannemann contributed to the ease of the song. Another highlight set the large choirs of the Lichtenberg-Gymnasium, each with more than 60 votes that impressively interpreted the play "African Alleluja" by Jay Althouse, accompanied by a suitable choreography.

A joint appearance of choirs and band, in which the song "Wonderful Dream" was sung by Melanie Thornton, turned out to be an emotional goosebump moment. In addition, the fundraising campaign of the "Circle of Friends of the LIG" sponsoring association was able to generate a record amount of 800 euros for the musical work of the school. Music teacher Sabine Rönnfeld praised the commitment of parents and students who had achieved a remarkable result under difficult conditions. Headmaster Martin Rehermann expressly thanked Bernhard Zimmermann, Sabine Rönnfeld and Anke Seifert for their excellent work.

In addition, a traditional Advent concert took place at the Lichtenberg-Gymnasium, which was organized for the tenth time. As Cuxverein , the event began on Thursday, December 21st, at 7:00 p.m. Various ensembles, including choirs, bands and orchestras, presented a varied repertoire that included the classics "Jingle Bells" and Stevie Wonders "Superstition". Before the event, a preliminary program with punch and pastries was offered in the cafeteria, in which new products from the school company were also presented.

The entry to the Advent concert was free, but donations were collected for a good cause at the exit. Registration was required for the event, which could be made via the school office or by email to rf@ligcux.de.
