Merz leads the survey: RLP leans Scholz, Weidel is gaining popularity!
in Rhineland-Palatinate shows a current survey by the SWR that the CDU under Friedrich Merz is strong on the upper for voting citizens. If the Bundestag election would be the next Sunday, the CDU would receive a whopping 35 percent of the vote. This corresponds to a significant increase compared to the election result three years ago when the party only reached 24.7 percent. In contrast, the SPD, represented by the incumbent Chancellor Olaf Scholz, would have to accept a noticeable decline at 19 percent after getting 29.4 percent in the last federal election. The survey also shows that Friedrich Merz is perceived by 38 percent of those surveyed as the suitable candidate for Chancellor, while Scholz is only considered a good choice by 21 percent. Alice Weidel can unite 25 percent of the votes, which lends them in front of the incumbent Chancellor.
